Intermediate temperature storage
Intermediate temperature storage (ITS) is the long-term care (storage) for cryonics patients in a temperature warmer than liquid nitrogen temperature (−196 °C), but colder than the glass transition temperature of the vitrification solution being used (such as −123 °C for M22[1]). Methods for creating ITS are being researched, because liquid nitrogen is too cold for patients, causing fracturing.[2]
ITS is being researched by the Alcor Life Extension Foundation[1] and the European Biostasis Foundation.[3] Alcor has a few neuropreserved ITS patients.[1][4]
