João Pedro de Magalhães
Dr. João Pedro de Magalhães is a Portuguese-born[1] scientist, entrepreneur,[2] and cryonicist.[3] He is a professor at the University of Liverpool in England.[1] His lab studies aging and longevity, in particular at the genetic level.[1]
In 1999, he obtained his degree in microbiology from Escola Superior de Biotecnologia in Porto, Portugal.[4] Under Olivier Toussaint, he obtained his PhD from the University of Namur in Belgium in 2004.[4] Then he did a postdoc with genomics pioneer George Church at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA from 2004 to 2008.[4]
Magalhães is the coordinator of the UK Cryonics and Cryopreservation Research Network.[5] He is a signatory of the Scientists' Open Letter on Cryonics, having signed it on March 22, 2004.[6]
