The Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute (Chinese: 山东银丰生命科学研究院) or just Yinfeng is a cryonics research / cryonics patient long-term care facility in Jinan, Shandong, China. Founded in 2015,[1] it is a division of the Yinfeng Biological Group.[2] The institute cryopreserves people and animals, including dogs.[3][4] The institute cooperates closely with the Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Foundation (founded in December 2016)[5] that funds the institute.[6]

The Yinfeng Group was founded in 1999.[7] The Yinfeng Biological Group, a division of the Yinfeng Group, was founded in 2011.[8] The Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute (founded in 2015)[1] is a division of the Yinfeng Biological Group.[2] The Yinfeng Biological Group's work include DNA testing, cord blood storage, aesthetic medicine and stem cell research.[9]

Before the Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute was established, people from the Yinfeng Biological Group contacted KrioRus, the Alcor Life Extension Foundation, and the Cryonics Institute (CI). Valeriya Udalova from KrioRus visited Yinfeng in October 2013.[10][11] In April 2014, Yinfeng visited KrioRus in Russia.[12][13]

In July 2015, Yinfeng visited Alcor[14] and CI[15] in the United States. Alcor had cryopreserved Du Hong, a Chinese woman, about a month earlier. In 2015, the Alcor employees Aaron Drake and José Kanshepolsky also visited Yinfeng.[11] Drake, having worked for Alcor since 2009,[16] helped to set up the Yinfeng cryonics facility. From April 2016 to April 2023, he worked as the Director of Research and Chief Specialist at Yinfeng.[17]

The Shandong Yinfeng Life Science Research Institute cooperates with Chinese hospitals and universities to conduct research in the field of cryobiology.[9]

As of March 2020, the institute had cryopreserved 8 people.[18] As of October 2020, Yinfeng had 10 patients.[9] As of December 2021, Yinfeng had 12 patients.[19] As of January 2023, Yinfeng had 14 patients.[20] As of March 2023, Yinfeng had 16 patients.[21] As of December 2023, Yinfeng has 19 patients.[22] They all are whole-body patients, and most of the cases are confidential. Their first patient was Zhan Wenlian who was cryopreserved in May 2017. In June 2018, they cryopreserved Liu Aihui. They also have cryopreserved a 13-year-old boy.[23]

As of the end of October 2018, nearly 50 people had signed up to be cryopreserved at Yinfeng.[11] As of July 2022, Yinfeng has 48 signed up members.[19]

Yinfeng's area of coverage currently is limited to mainland China and Taiwan, however they are planning on extending into all of Asia starting in 2022.[24][25]
