Straight freeze

From Cryonics Wiki

Straight freeze is cryopreservation of the patient without administration (perfusion) of a cryoprotectant.[1] Straight freeze results in complete freezing (i.e., ice crystal formation throughout all tissues of the patient),[1] causing damage. However, in straight freeze, cryoprotectant toxicity is not an issue that needs solving.

Patients who were straight frozen include Ban Jung-gi, CI-100,[2] Robert Nelson,[3] Laurence Pilgeram,[4] and Paul Segall.[5] CI-239 deliberately was straight frozen, because he wanted to.[6]
